Invention

You needed an excuse
And never mind the reason
And never mind the truth
For the truth is out of season
And rationality be damned
In the name of moving on
Making up mistakes and flaws
In the name of moving on...
Reason, truth, reality
Are all now proving gone.
But an excuse was needed,
Or at least so it seems.
To this whim I've conceded
So you can walk away from
The one you saw in your dreams
